Eurydice

Book By: Sarah Ruhl

Presented By: University at Buffalo Department of Theatre and Dance

Directed By: Jonathan Elston

Concept Statement: Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl is a story of love and loss. The play is about a woman searching for a message from her dead father on her wedding day and consequently searching for her husband after her death. The story balances between the worlds of the living and the dead, and therefore the costumes must be able to communicate these two worlds to the audience. This can be accomplished through color schemes and fabric weights – a “stacked” or layered motif throughout connects the two worlds.
