This show presented a very interesting challenge of being highly metaphorical while also dealing with incredibly real subject matter. It was a pleasure to see how our wonderful director, James Beaudry, was able to put this show onto the stage and make it something so immersive.

THE 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling bee

As my first time calling and running a musical, Spelling Bee was certainly a challenging experience. Terry Berliner was an incredible director to work with, and she always has unique and ambitious ideas. The inspiration for this show was separate from the typical school gymnasium style; instead, Terry informed the team she wanted EuroVision. A EuroVision inspiration demanded intense design challenges in a confined black box theatre. There were moments when I was calling G-Os to my operators on every word of a verse -- I am grateful to have had operators who were able to understand my every call, as without them it would not have been possible.
